This site marks where Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikhism, visited alongside his companion Bhai Mardana Ji during his second Udasi (missionary journey) around 1515–1517, following his travels from Bharuch on the way to Rajasthan
The original shrine began as a single room believed to stand at the very spot of his stay—including a small well where Guru Nanak Ji is said to have bathed. Over centuries, it has expanded into the large gurudwara seen today
Continuous daily prayers (Nitnem/Kirtan) have been taking place here since its origin, conducted as per the Hukumnama of the Akal Takht in Amritsar
